“As High As Heaven” consists of large two-sided canvases. These canvases are a culmination of two years labor and were created as a manifestation of both a deep-seated reflection upon my own religious upbringing and a desire to suggest a more universal duality between religion and conscience. Their scale and orientation create a physical presence and suggestibility of an elevated view or of being in the presence of such. My intention is to create a scenario of physical engagement with the viewer in order to bring higher orders of experience into a strange yet familiar concrete plane. Thus they rest against the wall and are turn able like a book. Within these works I explore language, formal issues of easel painting and visionary imagery that teases out the color of pageantry, patriotism and warmongering.
